Did I ever tell you about the multi millionaire lottery winner who was bored and at a bit of a loose end one day? According to American poet Robert Frost (1874-1963) – “A jury consists of twelve persons chosen to decide who has the better lawyer!” Well it looks like this little homily will be tested to the max later this week in the US city of Warner Robins, Georgia, when a civil case jury trial will attempt to resolve a disputed $750,000 lottery ticket purchased in Warner Robins way back in November 2010.

The legal fisticuffs are between 26 year old Guatemalan, Jose Antonio “Tony” Cua-Toc, who it’s alleged entered the USA illegally in 2000, and his then-employer Erick Cervantes, a Fort Valley business owner who claimed the winning Jingle Jumbo Bucks lottery ticket from Georgia lottery officials.

In essence, Cua-Toc claims that he purchased the winning ticket for himself, with his own money from the OM Food Mart at 700 Feagin Mill Road in Warner Robins, but because Cua-Toc did not have the proper documentation to receive the lottery prize, it’s alleged that Cervantes claimed the winnings on Cua-Toc’s behalf but then kept all the loot for himself!

There’s just one “teeny” additional complication Eric and his former wife Sonia Cervantes, also named in the proceedings got divorced last July. In the divorce settlement, the Cervantes agreed to split the now frozen $500,000 remaining lottery winnings between themselves and their three children. So with all sides claiming that the cash is rightfully theirs – it looks like this case would even challenge super lawyer Perry Mason! I’ll keep you posted!

The win is the third highest in Swedish lottery history, beaten by two previous grand slams of some 215 million kronor (US$31 million) in 2010 and 135 million kronor (US$19.8 million) in 2008.
