The Camelot Group operates the UK National since 1994. The government has relicensed the Camelot in 2001 as well as in 2007. The National Lottery Commission regulates the National Lottery. The value of one UK National Lotto ticket is one pound. Fifty percent of the amount generated by the players is forwarded directly to the collective prize fund. The other 28 pence is then invested for Good Causes fund which was founded by the parliament, 12p is then passed over to the British Government, 5p comprises of the commission meant for the sellers, while the rest of the 5p is forwarded to the Camelot Group.
The National Lottery players need to choose six numbers between 1 and 49. Players who succeed in matching three or above numbers are qualified for prizes, while larger prizes are meant for players who succeed in matching more numbers. Players who succeed in matching all six are declared the winner of the game.

Where’s my keys?

KeysImage by walknboston via Flickr

That’s just got to be one of the most important philosophical questions in human history and one that may well continue to plague mankind until the end of time.

Derek Ladner and his wife Dawn were well pleased when they hit the jackpot in the midweek UK Lotto draw a couple of years ago. The £2,395,710 (US$ 3.8 million) jackpot was shared across five winning tickets, which meant the Ladner’s cut of the prize booty amounted to a very tidy £479,142 (US$ 765,000).

Incredibly just one week later Mr Ladner finally remembered he had bought a second ticket with identical numbers for the same draw. That meant that the Ladner’s now owned two of the five jackpot winning shares thereby doubling their winnings to £958,284 (US$ 1.5 million).

UK lottery operator Camelot said it was the first time a player had won twice in the same draw!

It’s estimated that people spend between 10 and 15 minutes every day just looking for those wayward keys before memory finally kicks in and lo and behold, there they are! It took a whole week for Derek Ladner’s memory to nudge his conscious into looking for that second “lost” ticket which turned him into a millionaire.

So don’t leave it to memory, when you buy your lottery tickets at WinTrillions, you don’t have to worry about where you left the ticket or even whether you’ve won a prize, as we do all of the worrying for you on your behalf. All you’ve got to do is remember to buy a ticket in the first place and you can do that right here at WinTrillions and the best time to do that is right now while it’s fresh in your mind. Now just where did I put my keys?

Hit for Six

Six brand new millionaires joined the exalted “Millionaire’s Club” in the last few days courtesy of the UK Lotto and Irish Lotto games. Five UK Lotto winners shared the £14,663,305 ($23 million) rollover jackpot to walk away with a very tasty £2,932,661 ($4.6 million) each, while millionaire number six was the only ticket holder to match all six numbers in the Irish Lotto to bag the number one prize worth €5,178,377 ($7.1 million).

Last Friday’s EuroMillions lottery didn’t produce a single winner, which means that the prize pot for tonight’s draw is now worth a very tidy €34 million ($46.5 million). With only 11 hours or so left until the draw you’ll need to get your entry ticket a bit sharpish if you really want in on the action.

The toughest tongue twister in the English language is reputed to be “the sixth sick sheik’s sixth sheep’s sick”, I guess life won’t be so tough for six brand new millionaires.

You can play all these lotteries, as well as lotteries from all over the world right here at WinTrillions, just follow the links and you’ll be in business.

The Millionaire That Never Was!

Friday, October 14th, 2011

United KingdomImage by stumayhew via Flickr

This week has seen a whole bunch of newly created lottery millionaires; however spare a thought for perhaps the most unfortunate millionaire that never was; Martyn Tott! Way back in 2001 he brought what turned out to be a £3 million winning lottery ticket, then promptly forgot about it until he saw, just before the 6 months claim deadline expired, an appeal for the winner to come forward – there was however just one itty-bitty, teensy-weensy problem – Martyn couldn’t find the ticket!

Although Martyn was able to prove with computer records that his claim was genuine, he was unable to produce the actual ticket! Alas, UK Lottery organiser Camelot advised that they were unable change the rules and refused to pay out his £3 million prize.

Sadly, Martyn’s obsession with his “missing” millions cost him his marriage and his sanity. Now after ten-years, and three legal battles, Martyn has finally come to terms with what he has missed and has now found happiness once again.

Of course, it’s all too easy to lose a lottery ticket, consequently people have been known “hide” them in all sorts of “safe” places until their claim is validated; down the sides of sofa’s, in fridges, in their underwear, the list is endless; however if you really want to stay safe and secure, without any worry of losing a ticket ever, then look no further. WinTrillions safely stores every ticket, it’s a fun and trusted place to play the lottery and you won’t miss out on any winnings because we do all the notifications for you – just ask our 191,835 winners!
