The Camelot Group operates the UK National since 1994. The government has relicensed the Camelot in 2001 as well as in 2007. The National Lottery Commission regulates the National Lottery. The value of one UK National Lotto ticket is one pound. Fifty percent of the amount generated by the players is forwarded directly to the collective prize fund. The other 28 pence is then invested for Good Causes fund which was founded by the parliament, 12p is then passed over to the British Government, 5p comprises of the commission meant for the sellers, while the rest of the 5p is forwarded to the Camelot Group.
The National Lottery players need to choose six numbers between 1 and 49. Players who succeed in matching three or above numbers are qualified for prizes, while larger prizes are meant for players who succeed in matching more numbers. Players who succeed in matching all six are declared the winner of the game.

Shakespeare’s bed wins £229,200 lottery award!

Saturday, November 26th, 2011

A bed so big and so famous that William Shakespeare wrote about it in Twelfth Night, will return to the UK town of Ware in Hertfordshire where it was first created over 300 years ago, thanks to UK lottery funding.

The Great Bed of Ware will go on display next April for a year and remain in Ware, after the Ware Museum Trust received a £229,200 (US$353.839) grant from the UK Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to move it from the Victoria and Albert Museum where it’s been on display since 1931.

Originally created in 1590 by Hertfordshire carpenter Jonas Fosbrooke as a tourist attraction for travellers on the pilgrim route from London to Walsingham, and those on their way from the capital to Cambridge University, it is nearly ten feet wide and advertised to sleep 12, travellers were reputed to break their journey at Ware just to spend a night in the bed.

It was moved from inn to inn and the graffiti carved into the bed shows the places that it stayed and the names of the people who slept in it: reported guests include a party of butchers and their wives and a Bavarian prince – it’s not known whether they were all in the bed at the same time!

Since the UK National Lottery began in 1994, over 370,000 grants have been awarded and £26 billion (US $40 billion) has been given out to the arts, sport, heritage, charities, health, education and the environment, however, by far the biggest slice of lottery pie, the lions share, the deepest cut, goes straight into the prize pot – it’s yours for the taking every time you buy a lottery ticket and you can do that right here at WinTrillions, where you can play the UK National Lotto, as well as the biggest and richest lotteries from around the world.
