Second, big-bucks lottery win in a year for Californian school clerical workers
Sunday, January 8th, 2012A 16 member group of Californian school clerical workers who won a $12 million lottery jackpot last February have struck the mother-lode again inside 12 months to bag their second lottery win worth $262,743 after matching all 5 main numbers, 24 – 30 – 48 – 51 – 56, in the Dec 2 Mega Millions draw. The syndicate collected their latest prize on Friday but didn’t have that all important Mega number 45, which would have netted them the Mega Millions jackpot worth $75 million.
There were no winners for the Dec 2 $75 million jackpot until Dec 27 when it was finally taken by a resident from New York but not until repeated rollovers had hiked the top prize to a massive $206 million.
Once again the old “lightning cannot strike the same place twice” myth is blown apart. After all if the space shuttle launch pad gets hit repeatedly, New York’s Empire State Building – about 25 strikes each year, even Shenandoah National Park ranger Roy Sullivan who earned his entry in Guinness World Records by being whacked by lightning no less than 7 times during his lifetime then why not repeated big-time prize hits by previous lottery winners? The word on the street is the Californian school workers are not about to stop playing!
The next Mega Millions draw will be played on Tuesday Jan 10 with a $33 million prize pot. Also being drawn on Tuesday is Italy’s SuperEnalotto Lotto with $65 million up for grabs and Powerball with $54 million so there’s a nice little treasure trove just waiting for you, providing, of course you’ve got a ticket.
