Today, Friday, the “Day of the Kings,” starting at 12 pm in the Falla Theatre in Cadiz is Spain’s El Niño, the second most important draw in the Spanish Lottery draw calendar. The draw celebrates the bicentenary of the 1812 Spanish Constitution and will be the first time ever that the El Niño draw will not take place in Madrid.

Just a reminder El Niño is massive €84 million (US$107,442,340) is up for grabs in the draw, with a first prize of €2 million (US$2.558 million) in each of the 60 series for the owner of a complete ticket. Lawyers Claim $16.5 Million Hot Lotto Jackpot

Friday, December 30th, 2011

Whew – the cavalry has arrived just in the nick of time! With less than 2 hours to spare before a $16.5 million Hot Lotto jackpot was due to expire at 4 p.m. on Thursday; one year after it was drawn, lawyers representing the, as yet, unnamed winning ticket holders finally made it to the Iowa Lottery offices to stake their claim.

The Hot Lotto ticket with the winning numbers were 3 – 12 – 16 – 26 – 33 and Hot Ball 11, was purchased in Des Moines for the December 29, 2010 draw, but the prize money will not be released until Lottery officials meet with the “actual winners” and the security questions about the purchase of the ticket are answered.

If the 4 p.m. deadline had not been met it would be have been “game over” and the ticket declared worthless! All of the unclaimed prize money would have then been returned to the 15 lotteries that offer the game, in proportion to the percentage of sales that came from each state, for the Iowa Lottery this would have seen around $1.3 million returned, which they would have put into the prize pools for future games.

Sadly the cavalry didn’t arrive at all for another lottery winner earlier this week. The 180 day claim deadline for a winning Powerball ticket purchased in Georgia in the summer expired on Monday right alongside their $77 million fortune.

Remember when you buy your lottery tickets with WinTrillions you don’t ever have to worry about missing out on a prize deadline as we do the checking on your behalf and call you with the results!

Thieves Target Madrid Lottery Outlet

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

The police in Madrid, Spain are hunting for a gang of robbers who busted into a lottery outlet in the Moratalaz district of Madrid and stole a whole load of cash and lottery tickets. Although the exact amount of money and tickets stolen is not confirmed, Police believe it to be thousands.

The robbers broke into the lottery shop smashed their way through an office wall and used a thermal lance to burn a 6 inch hole in the safe and then made a quick exit with a large amount of Euros and a stash of lottery tickets, but not before starting a fire in a waste paper basket in the hope of covering their tracks. A thermal lance; my how times have changed; I always thought the quickest way to crack a safe was to “blow the bloody doors off”

The robbery came to light after fire fighters were called to deal with the blazing waste paper basket. Nobody has yet been arrested but the blaggers did leave behind a number of items, including a pick, screwdrivers and sunglasses.

This is the second time in a week that Madrid lottery outlets have been targeted; there was a failed attempt to rob the famous Dona Manolita lottery shop in Madrid; the would-be thieves were caught on surveillance cameras disarming the alarm system and trying to force the door, however they did not manage to break in.

Robbing lottery shops in Spain doesn’t come as any great surprise as the whole of Spain has been gripped by lottery fever, ever since the tickets for El Gordo del la Primitiva lottery first went on sale 8 weeks ago, particularly when there’s a mega $3,567,000,000 up for grabs and due to be drawn in just 2 days time.

There’s just time for you to get a slice of El Gordo action; but only if you move quickly. The easiest and safest way to do that is right here at WinTrillions; just follow the links and you’re in; what’s more you don’t ever have to go robbing lottery outlets in Spain to get hold of your ticket.
