Lucky Winner Checks Ticket, Wins Big

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

A lucky winner just about lost more than $1 million in cash when he crumpled up his lottery ticket.

He had been playing new numbers and after watching the results for the drawing on TV, assumed he was a loser.

When visiting the local gas station the crumpled ticket was still in his pocket and he thought to have it checked again. Lucky for him he did so, because he was instantly $1 million richer!

“I’ve got a friend who always has his tickets scanned,” the winner, who has stayed anonymous, said. “I thought about him when I was checking out so I scanned it like he would have.”

Winner Tries To Cash $12m+ Ticket At Shop

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Shop workers were pretty shocked when an older lady entered their store to cash her lottery ticket in. After scanning it, they realized they owed the lucky winner more than a few pounds.

The ticket was the winner of a 7.4 million pounds lotto jackpot, or roughly $12 million.

Shop manager Lorraine Ritchie said: “She came in with her ticket but she was told she would have to contact Camelot. I think the whole thing must have been a shock for her – it certainly was for the staff.”

Lucky Friday 13th Lotto Winners

Monday, February 16th, 2009

15 Shasta Lake school teachers had a very lucky Friday the 13th: they are now $76 million richer!

Each member of the group of teachers and administrators collected about $2.3 million, including assistant principal Steve Gray.

It was Gray who was the ringleader of a group of teachers and workers at the school who had been pooling their money to play the lottery since 2002.

“We’ve been losing forever,” he has said.

Not anymore.

“The most fantastic thing about the win is that we have really good people – all of them hard-working educators – and now they get to realize their dreams,” Gray said in a news release issued by lottery officials. “This just couldn’t get any more perfect.”

Lottery Winner Quits Grocery Job

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

After 35 years and 2 months stocking shelves at a grocery store, lotto winner John Jatho has decided its time for an early retirement.

The 51-year old Jatho, who started working for the store as a teenager in high school, said he won’t be going on a spending spree.

“But this will mean about 12 years of net pay, and I can begin drawing a pension in a few years. If I don’t go hog wild with it, I’ll be OK,” he said this week.

You can retire early, too.
