Woman Wins Millions With Wrong Ticket

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

A Halfmoon woman won $1,000,000 cash when a clerk accidentally sold her the wrong lottery ticket.

Pamela Fitch, 55, stopped at the Stewart’s at 454 Route 146 on Jan. 8, and asked for a $10 Jumbo Bucks scratch-off ticket. But the clerk gave her a $5 Big Bucks ticket, and Fitch decided not to tempt fate. She won the game’s $1 million top prize.

“My horoscope said I was going to win the lottery so I just went with it,” Fitch said Thursday at a check presentation at the store where she bought the ticket.

$30,000 Lottery Ticket Nearly Tossed In Garbage!

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Jamie Davis of Baltimore will think twice from now on before tossing his lottery tickets into the garbage.

The winner of $30,000, Davis threw away his tickets after believing that all eight of them were losers.

Lucky for Davis, the clerk at the Exxon station told him he ought to double check them before just tossing them by having them scanned by the computer. When they scanned them, Davis was more than thankful for the clerk’s advice!

“If I don’t think they are winners, I always throw them out,” Davis, 34, told lottery officials. “I can’t imagine how many other winners I’ve thrown away.”

His mother, who accompanied him to lottery headquarters, had one other request: “He should take us out for a nice steak dinner!”

Indiana Powerball Winner Still In Hiding

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

The winner of a massive $136.5 million jackpot is still waiting to come forward.

The ticket was bought in the small town of Lawrenceburg, Indiana where the local population is desperate to find out if it was a local player who matched all of the lucky numbers.

“I hope it is. I hope it’s one of my buddies,” Rick Eglian said.

The General Manager of the store where the ticket was purchased is also hopeful that the winner is local.

“It would be a thrill. All the cashiers and I were talking about just, ‘Please, let it be someone we know,’” she said.

20 Year Old Jackpot Winner Answers 5 Questions

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Matthew Alton, 20, of Gastonia won $1 million on the Dec 31st Powerball Drawing, and he answers 5 questions!

Q: You watched the drawing on TV with your mom? What was your first reaction?

“I had to look at the numbers about 20 times before I realized I had any money. I didn’t say a thing. I just handed her the ticket and she started doing backflips, not literally, of course.”

Q: What does it feel like winning $1 million in the lottery?

A: I kind of feel guilty about winning. I didn’t really need it. I’m not hurting, but everyone can use more money. There’s just people who need it a lot more than I do.

Q: Have you thought about potential investments?

A: I was talking to a friend last night about that and I’m not going to even pretend I know about that stuff, but I do know houses are cheap these days.

Q: OK, why did you wait so long (12 days) to go and collect your prize?

I’m not really hurting for money and I thought if I had gotten that money I’d probably want to spend it unless I thought about it. I’m trying to manage it without being crazy.

Q: You’ve got to be buzzed about paying $320,000 in taxes, right?

I’m not really happy about it, but at the same time everybody has to pay taxes. I just wish they’d do something good with the money, like fix roads. Have you been down Franklin?
