City Workers Win $207M In Megamillions Jackpot!

Wednesday’s massive Megamillions jackpot was claimed by a group of city employees in Ohio, but they’ve yet to come forward.

The 16 employees have been pooling their money for 5 years to buy lottery tickets, and finally it has paid off.

The workers have no come forward yet as they contact lawyers and determine how they wish to handle the winnings. Meanwhile, their boss is telling them to take time off and think about it.

“They were excited, but some said it hadn’t sunk in yet and that trying to decide how to handle everything was causing a lot of anxiety,” City manager Enderle said. “I met with everyone and told them to take a couple of days off to think about what they want to do.”

The winners expected to grab their big jackpot later this week or early the next.

The Winner That Almost Wasn’t

A Detroit man had won $1.5 million nearly a year ago, but he never saw a penny of it.

In fact, he had no idea he had won.

As the days turned into months, lottery officials began to fear that perhaps this jackpot, like several in the history of the lottery, would go unclaimed. After 12 months had passed, the tickets would be voided and the prize given instead to the state education fund.

Soon, major Detroit newspapers were running front page headlines about this mysteriously ignored ticket to a life of luxury, and people began scouring their pockets and dresser drawers for old tickets they may have forgotten to check out.

Then the winning man, who elected to remain anonymous, remembered back several months before when he had purchased two tickets, and placed them in the pocket of a leather coat his wife had bought him. Fortunately, the man had never cared much for the coat, and after wearing it that one night it had hung in a closet untouched. When he checked for the tickets, they were there.

Just 4.5 hours before the final deadline to submit his ticket, the man rushed to the lottery headquarters and claimed his $1.5 million.

Lucky Virginia Man Wins Twice

When Mr Branch won the Megamillions Lottery in February 2008, he jokingly told the lottery officials, “I’ll see you next time.”

And he did.

Just a few months later, he guessed five of the winning numbers and stopped by to pick up a second check from those same officials, this time worth $250,000!
