John Belawsky, New Jersey winner of a $48.6 million share of last week’s Mega Millions $330 million jackpot, bought a new pair of pants.
”It’s amazing what can happen when you stop to pick up a newspaper and a few tickets,” he said. Yep, you could be on your way to a brand new pair of pants.
Timothy Davis of Lansing, Michigan won a quarter million by matching all five white balls, but not the Mega ball. He says he’ll invest his winnings – perhaps in a promising venture like more Mega Millions tickets.
Elwood “Bunky” Bartlett, another winner from Maryland, plans to make good on a deal he made with the gods of his Wiccan beliefs. “You let me win the lottery and I’ll teach,” he said. He also plans to invest in Mystickal Voyage, the new age bookstore where he has taught Wicca and Reiki healing, and where he was headed with his wife when he stopped for some Mega Millions tickets at the liquor store.
My favorite reported result of this Mega Millions episode, and the one I would surely emulate if I ever wake up a millionaire, comes from the disabled veteran in the new pants – who let his wife sleep in.
